What to expect on our treks
Take our gorgeous alpacas and llama for a walk through the stunning woodlands of Rivelin Valley and the country lanes around Holly Hagg Community Farm, Sheffield. Our lovely gentle animals make this a truly enjoyable and memorable experience – but don’t just take our word for it, check out our customer reviews on TripAdvisor and Facebook.
We offer a range of tickets to suit animal lovers of all ages, but you must be moderately fit as you will be leading a large animal along rough paths with some steep and rocky bits that can be slippery and muddy in places. The whole experience takes about an hour and a half in total.
- On arrival you’ll be welcomed with an introduction to the herd, shown how to hand feed them and given a safety briefing before being matched up with your fluffy trekking partner.
- Our trained guides then take you through the beautiful scenery and woodlands surrounding our community farm.
- The trek lasts about an hour with plenty of stops for feeding, taking in the scenery and photography.
Sturdy footwear is a must!
Please wear sturdy shoes. The path is steep in places with uneven ground, loose stones and some mud.

We had a great time at Holly Hagg today. The farm was very well maintained. All the animals were well trained and... clearly loved by the people there. We had a great time on our alpaca walk on Saturday! The volunteers are really knowledgeable and take really good care... of all the animals. I like that we got to choose which alpaca we walked (we chose Thomas) It was a really nice and scenic walk (definitely recommend supportive footwear) but it wasn't rushed, and there are breaks during the walk where you feed them and have photos taken. After the walk had finished there was the option to have a guided walk around the farm and to meet the other animals they have there which was really nice. I've already recommended it to a few people already and I would definitely do it again!read more

I came across Holly hagg and their alpaca trekking on Facebook, it was something I'd never seen before and decided it... would be something completely different to do. well it really didn't disappoint, we had a fantastic time. the staff were lovely, very friendly, helpful and informative. our alpaca Thomas was so lovely and sweet and for most of the trekk he was a good boy! my daughter got to feed, walk and stroke Thomas. it was such a unique experience and we loved it!!!read more

We did a trek and walked Jefe the lama. The guides and the animals are lovely and the walk and views are beautiful.... Great way to spend our Saturday morning. Also loved the pigs back at the farm – very friendly – and enjoyed having a look around.read more

Had a fabulous time down at Holly Hagg Community Farm this afternoon. Wonderful to get up close to the beautiful... Alpaca’s and feed them, Sanday and Teddy especially delightful. Wonderful knowledgable volunteers. We ventured round to the other animal, piglets, hens, chickens and rabbits.and there they had a Fleece Fest with the actual Alpaca yarn from Teddy and the other Alpacas, of course I bought some wonderful lady spinning the Alpaca yarn, and very helpful volunteers in there. Santiago, who is known for his cheeky antics, was my friendly alpaca companion for today's walk. The Alpaca Trek, lead... by enthusiastic, entertaining and down-to-earth members of the Holly Hagg Community Farm, has been one of my favourite and unique experiences this year. It was a lovely route and I enjoyed having Santiago's company, despite him walking me round in circles when I got his food out and when he wanted to jump in the bushes and eat them at many points throughout the walk. These antics made the walk interesting and gave us something laugh about. It may have been the first time he had seen sheep too, which was adorable! Santiago allowed me to stroke his back, neck and head - he was so soft and cuddly!
The volunteers leading the trek were also very conscientious of social distancing guidelines and they followed those 'extra measures' to make sure everything was safe and healthy. I felt very comfortable with the set up and would definitely go again soon!read more
